Visa Information

If you’re planning to study at the National Diversity Institute of Australia (NDIA), it’s important to understand your visa options. The type of visa you require will depend on your study duration and country of citizenship. ✈️ Visa Options for International Students

1. Student Visa (Subclass 500)

If you intend to study at NDIA for more than 12 weeks, you must apply for a Student Visa. Key requirements include:

  • Enrolment in a full-time registered course.

  • A valid Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE) from NDIA.

  • Payment of Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of your stay.

  • English language proficiency as specified by the DHA.

  • Proof of sufficient financial support and a health check (as required by DHA).

Work Rights: Student visa holders may work up to 48 hours per fortnight while their course is in session and unlimited hours during official term breaks.

2. Tourist Visa

If you plan to study for a short course of up to 12 weeks, you may be eligible to study under a Tourist Visa. This visa is typically used for:

  • Holiday or recreational visits

  • Visiting family or friends

  • Short-term, non-award educational courses

3. Working Holiday Visa (Subclass 417 and 462)

If you are aged between 18 and 30 (or 35 for eligible countries) and hold a passport from a country with a special agreement with Australia, you may apply for a Working Holiday Visa. This visa allows you to:

  • Stay in Australia for up to 12 months

  • Work to supplement your travel expenses

  • Study for up to 4 months

Eligible Countries (Subclass 417) include: Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Taiwan, and the UK.

Eligible Countries (Subclass 462) include: Chile, Malaysia, Thailand, Turkey, USA, and others.

📝 Applying for a Student Visa – Step-by-Step

To apply for a Student Visa through NDIA:

  1. Apply to NDIA by completing the enrolment form.

  2. Receive a Letter of Offer and an Invoice for course fees.

  3. Pay your fees as per the invoice.

  4. Once payment is received, NDIA will issue your Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE).

  5. Use the eCoE to apply for your Student Visa (Subclass 500) online via the DHA portal.

  6. A copy of your eCoE will also be sent electronically to the embassy.

A CAAW letter (Confirmation of Appropriate Accommodation and Welfare) is required if the student is under 18 years of age.


✅ Visa Conditions for Student Visa Holders (IMPORTANT)

As a student visa holder, you must comply with Australian Government regulations, including:

  • Maintain full-time enrolment in a CRICOS-registered course.

  • Attend 80% of scheduled classes (or as required by your course).

  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress.

  • Work no more than 48 hours per fortnight during study terms.

  • Hold valid OSHC for the entire duration of your stay.

  • Notify the Department of Home Affairs and NDIA of:

    • Change of address

    • Emergency contact details

    • Changes to enrolment or course withdrawal

    • Any changes in visa status

  • Apply to extend your visa before it expires, if required.
